Many people spend months, and even years planning their perfect wedding. Countless Pinterest boards, thousands of dollars, and you can throw a party beyond you wildest dreams. Over the last week, I have had the privilege of attending a wedding, and that thought me about the unimportance of marriage in our world. It started at six in the morning on Friday the 20th, when we woke up, got ready and rushed to the airport. We passed security just in time and rushed to our flight. American Airlines flight 1027 to DFW. We boarded an old 737 and we made our way towards Dallas. When we finally got the hotel, we were relieved, but little did we know, that we wouldn’t leave the hotel until two days later. The next day we went to the actual wedding, and you know what, the bride and the groom were the same people before and after this meaningless ceremony. Why would someone go in to debt to complete a meaningless ceremony that would cost $50 in court fees? Do you really think that God has blessed your union, if so, then why do 30% of marriages end in divorce? As some person said, the most dangerous phrase is “we have always done it this day”.
